Cold snap to ease after January 22, with snow returning – Natalia Ptukha

An anticyclone that arrived from the northeast is now influencing the weather across Ukraine. Together with the cold air mass, it is generating winter cyclones.

Natalia Ptukha, head of the Media Communication Department of Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, stated this at Media Center Ukraine.

“For the next few days, until the 22nd, the anticyclone’s influence will persist. It will ensure frosty weather. After January 22, a certain easing of the frost can be expected. Snow can be expected to return on the 23rd,” she noted.

Until then, persistent frosts will affect the northern regions and the Vinnytsia oblast, with nighttime lows plummeting to -20°C and daytime highs only reaching -6 to -11°C. Elsewhere, expect nighttime lows of -8 to -13°C and daytime highs of -3 to -8°C. Zakarpattia may experience slightly milder conditions, with daytime temperatures potentially reaching zero.
