“Closing the Skies above Ukraine Becomes Especially Important Due to Locations of Nuclear Power Plants in Ukraine,” German Galushchenko, Minister of Energy of Ukraine, States
Occupiers are targeting the energy infrastructure. Russians are not only shelling Ukraine’s nuclear power plants but also dropping bombs on them. This situation endangers safety on an international scale, considering the location of the nuclear power plants in Ukraine. It was the common theme of the press briefing of German Galushchenko, Ukraine’s Minister of Energy, in Ukraine Media Center.
The Energy Minister stated that a nuclear accident could occur if a projectile hit spent fuel storage facilities. He emphasized that demilitarized zones must be established around each nuclear site. The Government of Ukraine suggested this to the IAEA and G7 energy ministers.
