Civil society voices are being sidelined by the state, compared to 2014-2016, according to civil society representatives
The period of 2019-2021 marked a crisis in the relationship between the state and civil society organizations.
Maksym Latsyba, Head of UCIPR’s Civil Society Development Program, expressed this opinion at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Compared to 2014-2016, the influence of civil society on state policy is declining,” he stated. “Following the Revolution of Dignity, the influence and capacity of civil society were significantly greater. The authorities were more willing to hear and heed the voice of CSOs.”
Latsyba further emphasized that all major progressive reforms, such as decentralization, the electoral code, and public procurement, were drafted with direct participation from civil society.
