Cabinet Suggests Reinstating Excise Tax on Fuel
The Government suggests that the excise tax be reinstated for motor gasoline, heavy distillates and other oil products, liquefied gas, and butane. A draft law to this effect has been submitted to the Parliament for review.
Oleksandr Kubrakov, Minister of Infrastructure, stated this during his briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
“We expect the fuel prices on the international market to keep going down, so the fuel price at the Ukrainian filling stations won’t change, albeit some increase in the gas price is possible,” he said.
The Minister added that the proceeds from the partial reinstatement of the excise tax would be spent on restoring and rebuilding the transport infrastructure and help the Ministry of Finance to make the necessary payments more efficiently.
The Ministry of Infrastructure expects the new initiative to start working in September and October, bringing extra 2 to 3 billion hryvnias per month to the national budget.
