By the end of the week, the price of diesel fuel is expected to exceed 80 hryvnia per liter, and later reach 90 hryvnia, according to an expert.
The week of the oil crisis began with the price of oil at $72 per barrel, and today the price has reached $117. At the same time, the price of fuel reached $1,360 per ton on the London Stock Exchange as of Monday, with the price increasing by $200 over the weekend alone. This was reported by Serhiy Kuyun, an expert on the fuel market, at the Ukraine Media Center.
“What does a $200 price increase over the weekend mean? It means an immediate increase of 10 hryvnia per liter of diesel at Ukrainian gas stations. Right now, the public and politicians don’t understand why prices are rising when we still have reserves at the old price of 50 hryvnia per liter. But if we sell the reserves at 50, then by the end of the week we can expect prices to be around 80 hryvnia per liter. In other words, you sell at 50, but you have to buy at 80. In fact, you can only buy half of the monthly volume. What is better – to stop trading or to prepare for the fact that you need more funds to buy and deliver this fuel. This is exactly what is happening on the market right now,” he said.
Also, according to him, later the cost of a liter of diesel fuel may jump to 90 hryvnia.
