Border traffic rises 20% over the weekend — State Border Guard Service of Ukraine

Passenger traffic at Ukraine’s borders rose by 20% last weekend, according to the State Border Guard Service.

While border crossings had averaged around 100,000 people per day before the weekend, the figure climbed to about 120,000 per day over the weekend, Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, said at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“As soon as summer ended, passenger traffic at the borders began to decline. The number of entries and exits dropped slightly and continued to decrease until the school holidays,” Demchenko said. “Last Friday, we saw a sharp rise in crossings. It’s possible that parents planned trips for their children, or that schools are organizing excursions.”
