Border passenger traffic has dropped by almost half compared to the holiday period – State Border Guard Service
Passenger traffic at Ukraine’s western borders has decreased in recent days, although a peak of 155,000 crossings was recorded just before the holidays on December 21. Andrii Demchenko, spokesman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, reported this at the Media Center Ukraine.
“There are no significant queues like those seen during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Passenger traffic dynamics tend to fluctuate. Speaking specifically about the border with Poland, this section accounts for 50% of all passenger traffic, so it was the most congested during the holidays. In the last days of the previous week and the start of this week, traffic has stabilized at around 80,000 crossings per day. This is significantly lower than the peak loads. The lowest number of crossings occurred on January 1st, with about 32,000 crossings,” he said.
Demchenko noted that the next wave of increased passenger traffic is expected in the summer.
