Border Guard rotations in active combat zones can take up to two weeks, Ukrainian official says

Due to the intense and dangerous conditions along the front-line border areas, Ukrainian border guards are often required to hold their positions for up to three months, turning any rotation into a highly complex and risky maneuver that resembles a large-scale special operation.

Andrii Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, explained the challenges during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.

“In the village of Varacheno, where the Steel Border Brigade holds positions, we showed how the rotation takes place there,” Demchenko said. “russia is trying to hit positions and groups, so replacing military personnel is a very complex process. Their withdrawal and replacement is a whole special operation that can take a week or two.”
