Border crossings with Ukraine total 32.3 million in 2024, says SBGS
Over the first 11 months of 2024, 32.3 million people crossed Ukraine’s border, marking a slight decrease compared to the same period in 2023.
Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS), shared this data during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“Looking at the first 11 months of this year, a total of 32.3 million border crossings were recorded in both directions—entries and exits combined,” Demchenko said. “This represents a slight decline compared to the same period in 2023 when 32.8 million crossings were registered—a difference of about half a million.”
Demchenko also provided a breakdown of this year’s figures, noting that of the 32.3 million crossings, 28 million were made by Ukrainian citizens. “In terms of distribution, it’s roughly even: around 14 million people crossed the border to leave Ukraine, while another 14 million entered. This demonstrates there is no significant preference for either leaving or entering Ukraine,” he explained.
