Big show: Surprises await viewers of Ukraine’s National Selection for Eurovision 2025
The organizers of the final of the Ukrainian National Selection for Eurovision 2025, scheduled for February 8, have prepared many surprises for the viewers.
This was revealed during the draw and presentation of songs by the finalists of the National Selection, which took place at the Media Center Ukraine.
“This year we are expecting a really exciting final. All the participants are actively preparing for it, and so are we. This year’s final will be produced by the professional team at STARLIGHT PRODUCTION. We are preparing a lot of surprises because we want February 8th to be really interesting, diverse, musical, and we want to choose the most worthy candidate for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest,” said Oksana Skybinska, head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Eurovision Song Contest.
According to Herman Nenov, the creative producer of the National Selection for Eurovision 2025, the final will feature one of the most impressive stages in the history of the National Selection.
Speaking about the format, Nenov said that the audience can expect not only a National Selection-level show, but a Eurovision-level production: “a big, epic, Ukrainian Eurovision.”
Nenov also revealed that this year’s show will feature elements typically seen in the Eurovision Grand Final. For the first time in the history of the Ukrainian national selection, there will be a green room with ten delegations, i.e. the ten finalists of the National Selection with their support teams. In addition, there will be scripted elements usually associated with Eurovision itself.
Promotional campaigns will also be a key feature this year, with portraits of the finalists designed in the style of various iconic fashion brands.
Nenov also announced a special opening performance by nine Ukrainian Eurovision superstars. They will come together on stage to perform a symbolic song for Ukraine in a unique and unexpected arrangement.
“It will be grandiose, massive, epic and above all Eurovision-worthy!” he stressed.
Meanwhile, Tina Karol, the music producer of the National Selection, noted that all ten songs in the final are completely different in genre. She expressed hope that this year’s selection would lead to the emergence of many bright new artists and bands in the Ukrainian cultural landscape.
“The range of voices and songs we’ll hear is incredibly diverse. After the final we’ll see how it goes, but I sincerely hope that many stars will be born. I can’t remember such a large pool of talent in previous years. Today I feel that at least 20 potential stars have emerged, including 10 bright new artists and bands,” said Tina Karol.
As a reminder, the 69th Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Basel, Switzerland. The Grand Final is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, with semi-finals on May 13 and 15, 2025.
