At least until mid-December, there may be no electricity restrictions in the country – Oleksandr Kharchenko
Based on weather forecasts and provided there are no large-scale enemy attacks, Ukraine could go at least until mid-December without electricity restrictions.
Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Energy Research Center, said this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“I think that, step by step, large cities will start first, and medium-sized cities will actually delay the start of the heating season a little bit. But it will depend on the temperature, because if it is cold, the heating season will start. And that, in turn, leads to a significant increase in electricity consumption, which leads to possible restrictions. I really hope that if there are no attacks, with what we have in the system now and what can still work, we have a chance to go at least until mid-December without restrictions, judging by the weather forecasts that are available. We may even be lucky enough to make it to mid-January. Forecasts for this period are quite mild – there shouldn’t be any frost or severe cold. If this holds true, and there are no large-scale attacks that hit us hard, we have a chance to make it to mid-January (without outages – ed.),” Kharchenko explained.
