As of October, about 10,000 people have been provided with prosthetic and orthopedic devices under the state program – Advisor to the Minister of Social Policy

Since the beginning of the year, about 10,000 people have been provided with prosthetic and orthopedic devices under the state program, including 2,500 military personnel.

This information was shared by Olena Kulchytska, Advisor to the Minister of Social Policy, during a press conference at Media Center Ukraine.

“As of October this year, almost 10,000 people have been provided with prosthetic and orthopedic devices under the state program. We group rehabilitation aids by type, and in fact prostheses and orthoses are in the same group. Accordingly, this year almost 2.5 thousand servicemen were provided with them. In total, almost 10,000 people have received 16,000 prosthetic devices, as every person in Ukraine, including military personnel, is entitled to more than one prosthesis,” she said.

Olena Kulchytska also noted that military personnel are entitled to different types of prostheses, depending on the specialist’s recommendation.

“We often hear complaints that someone needs a bionic prosthesis and not a mechanical one, but it’s not provided. In reality, military personnel can receive mechanical, bionic, and even bathing prostheses. It’s not a matter of personal choice, but rather the expertise of specialists who determine and recommend the most appropriate option,” she explained.
