Around 10 million Ukrainians celebrated Christmas on December 25 – National Police
On Monday, believers celebrated one of the major religious holidays, Christmas, according to the Revised Julian calendar. The National Police report states that nearly 10 million people went to about 7,000 religious and church services on this day.
These data were announced by Maksym Akhramieiev, Head of the Department of Preventive Actions of the National Police of Ukraine, at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“A large number of citizens opt to celebrate Christmas on December 25. There were almost 10 million citizens who visited about 7 thousand religious shrines,” he said.
In turn, Maksym Akhramieiev noted, that the National Police ensured all security measures during the Christmas festivities, maintaining public order in places of worship and preventing interfaith conflicts.
“On December 25, police vehicles and foot patrols were stationed around churches to address security concerns,” he added.
