How Do People’s Elected Officials Work Without the Pressure of Elections?” Topics of focus: – Parliament’s work without the pressure of elections; – MPs’ support of progressive changes during the war; – Monitoring the activity of people’s elected officials; Why this is interesting: In peacetime, the term of the 9th convocation of the Verkhovna Rada should have already come to an end. However, russia’s full-scale invasion fundamentally changed the situation. After ten sessions, the MPs’ Performance Coefficient shows how much parliamentarians supported progressive reforms with their votes. The MPs’ Performance Coefficient is a tool allowing anyone to find out if a certain elected official has supported reforms in Ukraine. After each session of the parliament, the database containing the results of the votes is updated. Experts of the Reform Index project evaluate which laws have a positive effect on the life of the state, and which ones do not. |

Interview with an Entrant from Occupied Crimea” Topics of focus: – Did the state support the applicants during the entry process and when leaving occupied territories? – What problems did entrants from the temporarily occupied territories face during this year’s enrollment campaign? – What can be done today to correct mistakes and help the youth from temporarily occupied territories to enter universities and leave for Ukraine-controlled territories? Why this is interesting: During the press conference, the participants will share the real story of a girl from temporarily occupied Crimea, who decided to enter a Ukrainian university and leave for the Ukraine-controlled territory. Her story will reveal all the gaps and problems of the state policy regarding the enrollment of young people from the temporarily occupied territories and their departure from the occupation. For reference: Since 2016, a simplified admission system has been in place for young people from temporarily occupied territories, facilitated by the “Crimea-Ukraine” and “Donbas-Ukraine” Education Centers. This year’s admission campaign for entrants from these areas or those who moved within this year runs until September 30. However, the deadline for securing tuition-free education was July 31.
