The upcoming documentary People of Freedom’s Color, produced by the NGO Locals (“Tuteshni “), offers a compelling look at the peaceful resistance of Ukrainian civilians under russian occupation since 2014. The filmmakers describe the project as an attempt to trace the roots and evolution of non-violent defiance against the backdrop of ongoing aggression. The film features personal accounts from residents of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Novoazovsk, Melitopol, and Kherson. It highlights the stories of activists from grassroots movements like the Yellow Ribbon and the Zla Mavka, as well as testimonies from those still living under occupation, individuals who bravely paint national flags, hang symbolic ribbons, distribute posters with Ukrainian motifs, uphold cultural traditions, and even teach the Ukrainian language in defiance of imposed restrictions. |
