Why is it important? Ukraine’s civil society sector has navigated a decade of crises, including the upheavals of 2014-2024, the pandemic, the full-scale russian aggression, economic hardships, and waves of forced displacement. Despite these challenges, it continues to grow, adapt, and remain a cornerstone of the country’s democratic resilience. The number of registered civil society organizations has risen from 75,828 in 2015 to 105,908 by January 1, 2025. This increase of more than 30,000 organizations reflects growing confidence in their work. But the question remains whether the sector has become truly sustainable, or does it remain in survival mode. |
