The event will present the results of a study on the legal situation of Ukrainian children under the control of the russian federation, and the process of their return and reintegration. The study reflects the experience of three non-governmental organizations in defending the rights of children who are now under the control of the aggressor state or who have been returned home. The joint report is based on interviews with children and their parents/guardians, specialists in return and assistance, and a comprehensive analysis of international humanitarian law and international children’s rights law. During the event, recommendations will be presented to relevant authorities and international partners to enhance the effectiveness of ensuring the rights of affected children. For reference: Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, russia has deported and forcibly displaced at least 19,546 Ukrainian children, including approximately 4,000 orphans and children deprived of parental care. More than 90% of these children, along with 1.6 million young Ukrainians from the temporarily occupied territories, remain under russian control. |
