Briefing entitled: “The decision of the International Court of Justice of the United Nations on Ukraine’s lawsuit against russia: victory or defeat?”

– How to assess the decision of the International Court of Justice of the United Nations on Ukraine’s lawsuit against russia in terms of defending human rights?
– What are the consequences of this decision for Ukraine’s further struggle, particularly in the legal sphere on international platforms?
– How can Ukraine improve the ability to collect evidence of human rights violations and international crimes?

Why this is interesting: 
On January 31, the International Court of Justice of the United Nations issued a decision in the case of Ukraine against russia regarding sponsoring terrorism and discrimination. In particular, the court recognized that the russian federation discriminates against Ukrainians in Crimea, the lawsuit dealt with the period prior to russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

During the briefing, the participants will also discuss the decision of the International Court of Justice regarding the admissibility of Ukraine’s statement against russia in the case regarding the application and interpretation of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
