Why is it interesting?

The Congress will focus on the post-war recovery of Donetsk region and the vital role women play in shaping the region’s future. More than 130 active women from Donetsk Oblast will join high-ranking representatives from the Ukrainian Government and Parliament, regional and local authorities, security and defense sectors, as well as Ukrainian and international policymakers, business leaders, donor organizations, and the media.

The event aims to shed light on the challenges faced by women in the region, including forced displacement, trauma, and a surge in gender-based violence. It will also highlight the critical contributions women are making to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis and outline strategies to strengthen their engagement in Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts.

The Congress will conclude with the adoption of a Resolution outlining shared objectives and offering recommendations to Ukrainian authorities, as well as to public and private sector stakeholders.

The event is organized by SMARTA CSO and Donetsk Regional State Administration and is part of the “Empowering Women for Resilient and Peaceful Society” project, implemented by UN Women in Ukraine with the financial support from the Government of Denmark.
