Why is it interesting?

In 1884, Nataliya Kobrynska, a Ukrainian writer, established the Association of Ruthenian Women in Stanislaviv (now Ivano-Frankivsk), marking the inception of the Ukrainian Women’s Movement. This initiative recognized that a woman’s voice is a powerful advocate for women’s rights, Ukrainian sovereignty, cultural preservation, and the future.

Over the past 140 years, the Ukrainian Women’s Movement has been a formidable advocate for women’s rights and national interests. Today’s women, much like their predecessors, continue to unite and address emerging challenges with exceptional resilience. In the face of war, crises, and social upheaval, Ukrainian women are saving lives, spearheading reforms, defending their nation, rebuilding communities, launching businesses, nurturing cultural initiatives, advancing media, and championing social justice for the country’s most vulnerable.
