An innovative analytical platform for the banking sector launched in Ukraine
The Association of Ukrainian Banks has developed an analytical platform for the banking sector in collaboration with the State Institution “Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”. This platform allows those working with banking analytics to transition from the routine processing of large data arrays to in-depth, flexible, and rapid analysis.
This topic was discussed during the platform’s presentation at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Modern digital technologies allow us to complete the same work in much shorter timeframes or enable one person to handle a significantly larger workload. We decided that the information banks submit to the National Bank in the form of reports, which are then published on the National Bank’s and banks’ own websites, should be processed and presented in an engaging format. I am thrilled that we are finally presenting Version 2.0 of our Analytical Platform today,” said Andriy Dubas, president of the Association of Ukrainian Banks.
Yurii Polovnev, Director of the Statistics and Reporting Department at the National Bank of Ukraine, stressed that the Analytical Platform is a powerful tool for digitizing banking analysis.
“The platform itself is not just an analytical tool, but rather a small ecosystem that allows not only banking professionals, but also researchers, students, journalists, and ordinary citizens interested in financial market developments, to use data for analysis. For the National Bank, this confirms that open data initiatives, specifically transparency, yield results,” Polovnev added.
Oleksii Shpanel-Yukhta, a junior researcher at the State Institution “Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” and a co-developer of the Banking Sector Analytics Platform, explained that the platform is designed to aggregate all publicly available data.
“The platform’s goal is twofold: first, to aggregate data; and second, to perform basic checks to ensure that all data necessary for calculating specific indicators is available and presented in a convenient format. Moreover, this convenient format is multi-convenient. We designed it to be accessible to people familiar with basic banking concepts, such as loans and deposits, as well as to those unfamiliar with terms like net assets or NPLs,” the co-developer clarified.
According to Oleksii Shpanel-Yukhta, the platform includes in-depth analytical tools that examine the structure of highly liquid financial instruments of commercial banks, the behavior of the banking system, and the performance of specific bank groups in Ukraine’s market. These features cater to experts, researchers, and macroeconomists working in commercial banks who want to understand trends among competitors and the system as a whole.
The platform is divided into four main sections: comprehensive analysis of individual banks and their profiles from all perspectives, study of the banking system’s core indicators, payment system data, and banking system rankings.
The updated version is already available on the Association of Ukrainian Banks’ website under the Analytics section.
