Amounts of EU aid to Ukraine may increase
The decision to extend EU aid to Ukraine includes the possibility of reassessing the multi-year financial perspective after two years. This flexibility allows for an increase in assistance based on the evolving needs of the country.
Vsevolod Chentsov, Representative of the Mission of Ukraine to the European Union, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“There is also a provision – with is a very important caveat – that, if necessary, the multi-year financial perspective can be revised after two years. And what this means is that – and it is not only about our EU facility – it also applies to other elements of this perspective, such as the funds of the program allocated for issues of migration regulation and other instruments that were also approved yesterday. Also, this does not mean that this review can lead to a reduction in amounts allocated to Ukraine. It was a wise decision to anticipate the potential adaptation of this tool to our needs. And it is likely, as we see now, that it will probably be in the direction of an increase, not a decrease, of the resources that will be allocated to Ukraine,” Vsevolod Chentsov explained.
