All military personnel need rehabilitation, even those not on the front line – Oksana Horbach

Oksana Horbach, director of the Invictus Games Ukraine NGO and an officer in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, stated that the state should offer every combat veteran a short-term rehabilitation method, with the exception of those with severe injuries requiring long-term recovery.

\She made these remarks at the Media Center Ukraine during the presentation of a study on the impact of adaptive sports on the rehabilitation of military personnel and veterans.

“Military personnel need to recover and rehabilitate from the effects of war within a fairly short timeframe. This applies not only to those on the front lines, but also to those serving in support units. They equally require recovery. Drawing on the experience of the Invictus Games and sports rehabilitation, where we have seen real-life examples of how sports affect soldiers’ mental and physical health, it is worth discussing how military units and rehabilitation centers can apply this experience to increase the effectiveness of rehabilitation,” she noted.
