Admission to graduate school: This year’s innovations and reduction of state-funded places
In 2025, the admissions campaign for graduate school will undergo several important changes. For the first time, applicants will use electronic personal accounts.
This was announced by Mykhailo Vynnytskyi, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.”
This year, electronic personal accounts will also be used for admission to graduate school for the first time,” he noted.
Mykhailo Vynnytskyi reminded that, like last year, state-funded places will be available only for full-time study. Those who wish to study part-time or in the evening will have the opportunity to enroll on a contractual basis.
“Like last year, state-funded graduate programs will be available only to full-time budget students. Those who wish to study part-time or in the evening will have the opportunity to enroll on a contractual basis. However, full-time enrollment will be exclusively state-funded,” Vynnytskyi explained.
At the same time, the number of state funded places for graduate students will be reduced this year. Whereas in 2024 there were about 7,000 such places, this year there are expected to be about 5,000.
“We are expecting about 5,000 places in graduate schools this year; the exact number is not yet available. It is clear that there will be a preference for engineering and science fields, because these are the innovations that we really need at the graduate level,” the Deputy Minister emphasized.
