Activists warn Ukraine’s civilian first aid kits fall short of wartime needs

Ukraine’s safety standards for businesses and institutions currently require basic medical aid training. But civil society groups say those courses remain largely perfunctory, and the same problem applies to the first aid kits mandated for use.

Speaking at the Media Center Ukraine, Leonid Fedorovsky, chairman of the board of the Association of First Aid and Tactical Medicine Operators and Instructors, said the shortcomings are significant.

“Our organization has launched a project to place first aid kits in public spaces and common areas. This way, people will not only have the knowledge to provide help, but also the resources to do so,” Fedorovsky said.

Activists argue that most first aid kits available on the market today fail to meet the requirements of a country living under wartime conditions.
