About a third of Russian crimes in the temporarily occupied territories have been documented, according to human rights activists.

Russia blocks access to Ukrainians under its control, both in the temporarily occupied territories and within the Russian Federation itself. Therefore, human rights defenders do not have full access to all international crimes committed by Russia. Kateryna Rashevska, an expert at the NGO “Regional Center for Human Rights” and a Ph.D. in international law, spoke about this during the presentation of the analytical report “Territory of Lawlessness” at the Ukraine Media Center.

“To date, about a third of Russia’s war crimes and human rights violations have been documented. It will take us decades to sort through all of Russia’s crimes in the temporarily occupied territories,” she said.

Kateryna Rashevska noted that, according to estimates by the International Institute for Strategic Studies, by 2027 Russia will have the capacity to continue its tactics of “gray zones” not in Ukraine, but in one of the NATO member states.
