A separate demining program has been launched in the Mykolaiv region at the request of our servicemen and the State Emergency Service representatives
Denys Marchuk, Deputy Chair of the Ukrainian Agrarian Council, made this statement during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
“The prospects for Mykolaiv region demining look a little brighter than for Kherson region, as now the main forces have been concentrated there. But again, about 300 thousand hectares of land have been mined. According to the military-civilian administration, the first stage of demining covers about 30,000 hectares of land for vegetable growing,” he said.
Denys Marchuk noted that in the area of Snihurivka, where active hostilities were taking place, farmers now go out to work into the field at their own risk, notice mined areas, and inform the State Emergency Service.
“But still, this is a very time-consuming procedure. That’s why it’s crucial today to involve our international partners and funding to purchase the necessary equipment that will help save lives and speed up demining”.
