A combined enemy attack on the night of June 5-6 killed three SESU rescuers and injured 24 others
Ten regions were targeted during the combined enemy attack on Ukraine on the night of June 5-6. The attack killed seven people and injured 80. Among the casualties were rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) who were responding to the aftermath.
Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, press officer of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, announced this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Seven people died in the initial attack, and over 80 people were injured. Even now, we’re receiving reports that some victims are seeking medical help after some time has passed because symptoms don’t always appear immediately. Three SESU responders lost their lives while carrying out damage control and firefighting operations. All three were members of the 18th State Fire and Rescue Unit of the SESU Main Directorate in Kyiv,” Khorunzhyi said.
He added that two children and 24 SESU personnel were among the injured, with 19 hurt in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district – the same location where the three rescuers died – and five in Ternopil, where they were battling large-scale fires caused by russian strikes.
