99% of those who retook the military medical commission (MMC) were deemed fit for service – Fedir Venislavskyi
Nearly all Ukrainians who were previously classified as “limited fit” for military service were reevaluated as “fit” after undergoing repeat MMC examinations.
This information was provided by Fedir Venislavskyi, an MP and member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence.
“More than half of those previously deemed unfit underwent a second medical examination to be recognized as fit or unfit. It is interesting to see the proportion of people who are recognized as fit or unfit for military service as a result of the second examination. Practically all of them, 99%, are recognized as fit for military service,” Venislavskyi noted,
He emphasized that this pattern points to systemic abuse.
“This shows that, at the time, the possibility of being recognized as partially fit for military service was used as a loophole to evade military service, which was required of Ukrainian citizens, whether due to unwillingness to serve or other reasons,” the MP noted.
According to Venislavskyi, half of those who underwent a second medical examination were deemed fully fit for military service without restrictions. The remaining 50% were approved for service with limitations, such as assignments to rear units or support roles.
“Currently, 50% of those who retake the MMC are deemed fit for military service with no restrictions. About half are deemed fit for service with limitations, meaning they can serve in rear units and support systems. However, nearly everyone is recognized as fit for military service. Moreover, there are very few complaints about procedural violations during reassessments. In fact, an objective reevaluation reveals that nearly everyone previously labeled ‘limited fit’ is now fit,” Venislavskyi concluded.
