94% of Ukrainians do not recognize Crimea’s russian past – survey results
94% of Ukrainians do not recognize Crimea’s russian past, or the claim that it has always been russian.
These results were announced by the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Tamila Tasheva, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“94% of our citizens do not agree with the thesis that Crimea has always been russian and has an exclusively russian past. As part of our work within the strategy of cognitive de-occupation, we are trying, among other things, to debunk these myths. And it seems that our efforts, as well as those of other state institutions working on the politics of memory and the debunking of myths about the so-called ‘russian-ness’ of Crimea, are now supported by sociological research,” she noted.
At the same time, according to Tamila Tasheva, 58% of citizens say they have insufficient knowledge about Crimea, but on the other hand, the demand for this knowledge is high.
