70% of Ukraine’s vineyards grow in Odesa region – regional military administration
There are 23 thousand hectares of vineyards. Alla Stoyanova, director of the Odesa regional agriculture department, told this at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Odesa.
“About 260 thousand tons of grapes are grown in the vineyards of Odesa region. There are 200 agricultural enterprises in the region, including 49 wineries. Most of the vineyards are in Bolhrad district, where 78 thousand tons of grapes are grown. In Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district – 76 thousand tons. In Odesa district – 27 thousand tons,” – the official said.
She added that the viticulture industry employs 5 to 7 thousand people, and these figures double during the season.
The official also noted that a unified state information system, the Viticulture, and Winemaking Register, has been created in the region.
According to the administration, 7% of the vineyards in southern Ukraine were damaged by enemy shelling.
