66 service dogs aid SESU operations: A look at their roles and responsibilities

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) currently employs 66 service dogs across 13 canine units, according to Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, press officer of the SESU, who provided the update during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“The SESU has established and operates 13 canine units based at rapid response centers and the primary departments of the SESU throughout the regions. As of today, the SES has 66 service dogs, including 9 search and rescue dogs, 9 mine detection dogs, 5 dogs trained to locate missing persons, 10 held in reserve, one breeding dog, and two puppies,” Khorunzhyi stated.

These specially trained dogs play crucial roles in various operations, enhancing the SESU’s capacity to respond to emergencies and locate individuals in crises.
