55 russian servicemen charged with committing sexual violence – Prosecutor General’s Office
So far, Ukraine has charged 55 russian servicemen with committing sexual violence in Ukraine. Cases against 34 russian servicemen have already been sent to court, and five have been sentenced.
This was reported by Veronika Plotnikova, Head of the Coordination Center for supporting victims and witnesses of the Prosecutor General’s office of Ukraine, at a briefing at the Media Centre Ukraine.
“Currently we have 55 charges against russian servicemen for committing acts of sexual violence. Cases against 34 russian servicemen have been sent to court, and five have already been sentenced. All of these proceedings are taking place in absentia, without the presence of the accused, as we currently have no access to the russian military. However, it is crucial that the facts are recognized so that these war criminals cannot escape punishment, either at the national or international level,” said Veronika Plotnikova.
