3rd Assault Brigade sees UGVs as a way to replace infantry

Ukraine’s 3rd Separate Assault Brigade is working to advance unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) as a viable substitute for infantry units, aiming to minimize casualties and improve operational efficiency on the front lines. Viktor “Stark” Pavlov, founder of the UGV Operator School and platoon commander of Unmanned Ground Robotic Systems with the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, outlined the initiative during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Our resources in this war are limited, and every unmanned system, whether in the air or on the ground, is an opportunity to defend our country more effectively. They help reduce both human losses and the economic toll of war. Ground drones have the potential to take over key infantry roles. UGVs) can now handle three core infantry functions: logistics, engineering tasks, and fire support,” Pavlov said.
