361 people, including 21 children, have been killed by explosive ordnance in Ukraine — State Emergency Service

As of today, Ukraine is the most heavily mined country in the world. As a result of the war with russia, 137,000 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory are contaminated with explosives. The war continues, which means that even areas that have been cleared may not stay safe for long.

Roman Prymush, the deputy head of Ukraine’s State Emergency Service for digital development, digital transformation, and digitalization, made this statement at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Nearly a thousand people have been injured by explosive ordnance, including 112 children. Also, 361 people, including 21 children, have been killed by such devices, and these are only the officially registered incidents. I am sure the actual number is much higher. Many incidents are not recorded, especially near the front line,” he said.

Prymush emphasized that the State Emergency Service not only conducts demining operations, but also educates the population about explosive objects, helping to save lives.

“At the beginning of the war, there were many such incidents because there was no widespread information campaign, and people did not take the problem seriously,” he said.
