15 minutes of excavator work can save a settlement – State Emergency Service

Viktor Vitovetskyi, Director of the Department of Civil Protection and Preventive Activities of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, emphasized the need for cooperation between emergency services and local authorities during a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center. Every community must be prepared for all possible scenarios, because the readiness of the State Emergency Service units is only one of the factors that contribute to the successful management of emergencies. 

“If we see that water is flowing in a certain direction and this threatens a settlement, then creating an alternative drainage system can help. Fifteen minutes or half an hour of excavator work can save a settlement,” he said. 

Viktor Vitovetskyi emphasized that the State Emergency Service units are ready to cooperate with local authorities to respond quickly to emergencies.
