1,500 participants, diplomatic support, and 212,000 hryvnia raised: KyivPride 2025 results

This weekend, Kyiv hosted the Equality March, which gathered around 1,500 participants. Despite threats and provocations, the event proceeded safely. Over 212,000 hryvnias were raised during KyivPride March and KyivPride Park to support Ukrainian military personnel, including donations to Serhii Sternenko’ foundation.

These results were discussed during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“The march was held under the slogan ‘Unity in Diversity’. This is the official motto of the European Union. Through our march and other educational events this year, we highlighted the LGBTIQ+ component as part of Ukraine’s European integration. Similar slogans were also heard during the march,” noted Yuliia Shypitko, program manager of the KyivPride NGO.

Several groups participated in the event, including the KyivPride organizational column, a column of LGBTIQ+ military personnel, a diplomatic column with representatives from various embassies and international organizations, and representatives of civil society organizations. Anyone who wished to join the march was also welcome.

“Around 1,500 people gathered. Everything went smoothly, none of the participants were harmed, despite various provocations and threats. The Kyiv National Police did an excellent job. We were in constant communication with them,” Shypitko added.

This year, however, the organizers were forced to relocate KyivPride Park from VDNG to Mykhailivska Square, a venue provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event was scaled down, but it still took place safely.

“We held KyivPride Park there in a much smaller format. But it still happened, and it happened safely. We are also grateful to the police for pushing back the attackers. We saw reports of detentions during KyivPride Park,” said Mykhailo Yurov, project manager of the KyivPride NGO.

In total, over 212,000 hryvnia were raised during the March and Pride Park for Serhii Sternenko’s “Potochny Rusoriz”.и понад 212 тисяч гривень на «Поточний русоріз» для Сергія Стерненка.
