1,000 hryvnias in special payments to Ukrainians and teachers’ allowances: Expert weighs impact on inflation
The government’s decision to provide 1,000 hryvnias in special payments to Ukrainians, along with a monthly allowance of 1,000 hryvnias for teachers, is likely to influence inflation by up to 1%.
Olena Korobkova, Chair of the Board of the Independent Association of the Banks of Ukraine shared her analysis during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine, emphasizing that the impact would remain relatively modest.
“We are already witnessing a rise in inflation. These measures [both the 1,000 hryvnias payments to Ukrainians and the additional allowance for teachers – Ed.] might contribute an increase of 0.3% to 0.5%, possibly reaching 1%. However, in the context of ongoing events and the current economic climate, this effect is not expected to be particularly significant,” Korobkova explained.
